I always enjoy Mark Steyn’s observations about life in the USA when he subs for Rush Limbaugh on his radio show. Maybe it’s the irony of hearing someone with a posh British accent comment on American issues that makes it so humorous, but Mark’s rants about the insanity of our income tax system really do crack me up.
From this past Thursday, here are some of his rants on the frustrations of trying to get a 1099-R form for his personal tax return, as well as how the USA is the only country where everyone knows the numbers of the main tax forms as a matter of normal life.

Last week, I was downloading comedy routines to put onto an Ipod to cheer up my dad when he was in the hospital. One of them I found was this bit that was recorded on 5/26/1961 from the Mel Brooks & Carl Reiner album, “2000 & One Years.”
Just as with the George Harrison “TaxMan” song, this routine still makes complete sense today, more than 51 years after it was recorded.

Rush had this funny parody of Charlie Rangel discussing his tax problems with his new forensic accountant on his Friday show.
