Preparer ID Numbers

IRS Provides Guidance on Identifying Numbers for Tax Return Preparers – IRS will be making it mandatory for paid preparers to use the special ID number. This is actually a good thing for us preparers. I have been using a PTIN ever since it became available, because that decreases the exposure of my Social Security number on tax returns I prepare.
