IRS Perjury Exposed…

Posted by taxguru on August 26, 2014

Of course, we shouldn’t hold our breath waiting for anyone in the IRS to be punished for lying about the emails.  Eric Holder will continue to cover their asses.

GOP lawmakers say DOJ probe into IRS ‘compromised,’ demand special counsel – How terribly racist of the GOP to not trust Eric Holder to investigate crimes committed in support of the bHo Regime.

IRS lawyer: Lois Lerner’s Blackberry deliberately destroyed after start of congressional probe –  She has been a textbook example of how obstruction of justice and destroying evidence are done.

Why we pay taxes…

Posted by taxguru on August 15, 2014

Here is a short explanation from Andrew Klavan on the main reason we have to pay taxes, income redistribution

I’m sure it helps maintain that great patriotic feeling to know that what you are sending to IRS will pay for someone’s cell phone and cable TV bills, along with other necessities of life.

If not Accounting, what profession?

Posted by taxguru on August 6, 2014

I’ve been a huge  fan of Monty Python’s Flying Circus since I first saw them on TV in the early 1970s.  They had a series of live reunion shows in July at the O2 Arena in London.  The final show, on Sunday, July 20, 2014 was broadcast all over the world and was great.

Here is a funny sketch from that final show making fun of Chartered Accountants, which are the UK equivalent of CPAs.

In case YouTube blocks this video, here is a link to it on my ScreenCast page.

Public Shaming Is Working

Posted by taxguru on August 6, 2014

The campaign by the BHO Regime and its MSM allies to shame companies into avoiding tax savings strategies, such as shifting income to lower tax countries, seems to be working.  Walgreens just announced it will keep its corp HQ in the USA rather than move it to an overseas country with much lower tax rates.  According to this news story, the potential negative publicity over this tax savings strategy was a key factor in the decision.

Walgreen Co. reveals details on new ‘Walgreens Boots Alliance’

We can expect more of this kind of pressure to be exerted on companies and persons who use legal tax savings techniques.  They will be labeled as “evil” and “unpatriotic” for having the gall to want to hold onto more of their hard earned income.

By no means am I advising against using tax savings strategies.  However it would also be wise to not broadcast it to the world.  Those who can’t or won’t use those ideas themselves will just resent you and possibly influence their elected representatives to reduce or eliminate them.  That is how we lost the deduction for 50% of business meals and the depreciation on expensive cars.  People who were taking those deductions bragged so much about them that the resentment worked its way to DC.  If you are using great tax savings tactics, keep it between yourself, the IRS and your professional tax advisor.
