IRS Plans Jan. 30 Tax Season Opening For 1040 Filers
This won’t affect our clients because we normally only prepare a few returns by April 15; but it will sure mess up the big assembly-line chain operations. Their bread & butter are early filers, desperate for quick refunds.

It’s always been an additional pressure during Tax Season to have to move the clock ahead by an hour. It’s not the loss of a billable hour that has been the big problem; but the loss of another hour of sleep during this high pressure time of year.
At least it isn’t as jarring since they moved the Spring Ahead day into March. It used to be a real shock to the system when it happened a week before April 15.
