One of the semi-benefits of the campaign season for the curious is the ability to peer into the private financial affairs of the top candidates, as they bow to the pressure to “voluntarily” disclose their income tax returns.
Newt has already posted copies of his 2010 tax returns on his website:
1040 for Newton & Callista Gingrich (46 page pdf)
990–PF for The Gingrich Foundation (21 page pdf)
According to the 1040 schedules, he also owns some other entities:
Gingrich Productions, Inc. – C corp that paid Callista $191,827 of W-2 wages during 2010.
Gingrich Holdings, Inc. – S corp that had a net K-1 profit of almost $2.5 million plus $252,500 of W-2 wages to Newt.
If Newt continues to do well in the race, I wouldn’t be surprised to see calls for him to reveal his corp tax returns as well.
Mitt Romney has promised to post his tax returns on Tuesday. I’ll post links to them as soon as possible.

I’m obviously biased, but it seems that when Hollyweird writers need an example of a soul-less person, they often use accountants, as in this clip from last night’s Fringe episode.
“Oh, she’s not dead. Though in a manner of speaking, she was.
A bookkeeper for an accounting firm. Can you imagine anything more lifeless?”

Funny mash-up of a GOP debate, focusing on their mentions of Taxes and Reagan.
There are lots of these kinds of one topic video mash-ups on this site I just discovered, SuperCut.org, that has nothing to do with haircuts.
Here’s a good illustration of why the GOP needs to keep its focus on the Reagan legacy of lower taxes, as our Affirmative Action president proclaims his sickening love of spending other people’s money.

Which explains why they are increasingly pushing the legality envelope during audits.
From Jay Leno:
According to USA Today, the Internal Revenue Service’s budget is too small for them to reform all the things they need to do. Good! That’s fantastic!
This is consistent with their latest fictitious Tax Gap report in an attempt to scare up more money from Congress.
As I’ve explained several times before, the “Tax Gap” is by definition an unmeasurable figure and the IRS pulls their numbers out of the air as a means of justifying more money and power for themselves.

Living here in the heart of official WalMart country for the past 19 years, we are big customers and supporters of theirs. However, I’m still not ready to trust them and their assembly line tax prep associates (H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt) with any complicated tax matters.
According to this WalMart press release, they will be providing free 1040EZ tax prep services this tax season. In actuality, these taxpayers are the same ones who could also qualify for free tax filing under the programs run by IRS and several State tax agencies.
As with any of the big assembly line firms, I don’t think any of us tax pros who work with regular 1040s have anything to worry about in terms of competition from WalMart. Any client who would try to get us to drop our fees to match WalMart’s should be told where to find the nearest WalMart store.
Jimmy Fallon had a comment about this the other night:
Wal-Mart is now offering free tax advice at more than 3,000 of its stores. Finally answering the question, “Where can I get tax advice, kitty litter, and a shotgun all in one convenient location?”

As if it weren’t bad enough that the idiots who run the PRC already punish high income people with extra income taxes, they are trying to add even more. This article from the WSJ describes the new Marxist group, Courage Campaign, that is pushing for such higher income taxes that they will in essence kill their golden geese when more of the evil rich reach their breaking point and relocate to lower tax states.
Here is the Marxist video that the article discusses:
More discussion from Fox Business about this push in the PRC to confiscate more from the evil rich.
Here’s a funny Chinese animation of the attempt to soak the evil rich in the PRC:
From Jay Leno, via NewsMax:
A group calling itself the Courage Campaign is trying to win support for a millionaire tax by running an ad showing Kim Kardashian. They want the Kardashians to pay more. This is part of the plan to raise taxes on the dumbest 1 percent.
