I often receive emails from accounting students and others just starting out, asking about the best career potentials available. One path has always been working for the IRS or other government agencies. In terms of job security and likelihood of growth in the sector, we have seen that to be significant since our new president assumed power, and most definitely with this latest government takeover of another sector of the economy.
I’m not really recommending working for the government because it takes a very different kind of mindset than in the real world of private sector business; but for those who value job security most highly, it has its merits.
