As is the case with many tax professionals, I consider it a treat when I come across a version of George Harrison’s classic TaxMan song that I haven’t heard before.
Sherry has a friend whose husband is in the Wisconsin band Boney Fingers. They are known mainly as a Grateful Dead tribute band, but also do creative covers of other artists’ songs and some completely original music as well. They sent us some CDs and I couldn’t wait to play the one from Summerfest 2002 after I saw the song list.
Their version of TaxMan is an excellent funky one with a lot of instrumental breaks. We received permission to post a copy of the song here. I was going to make my own easier to download MP3 copy, but as I was browsing around the group’s website, I noticed that they already have several MP3 versions of their music available for free downloading, including my two favorite tracks from the Summerfest 2002 CD:
TaxMan
Brick/Shakedown – An excellent mashup of Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall and the Grateful Dead’s Shakedown Street.
They also have several performance videos posted on YouTube that I will be checking out. Sadly, TaxMan isn’t one of them.
